May 28, 2009 – The final fringe benefit rates for the FY 09-10 year have been announced. These rates should be used for any grant applications that are being submitted to funding agencies with a start date on or after 7/1/2009.

Academic (object codes 2000, 2003, 2005, & 2280) (non-contract & grant accounts)	40.47%
Academic (object codes 2008 & 2288) (contract & grant accounts)	34.72%
Summer Salary for 9 month appointees	23.54%
Professional Appointees (object codes 2400, 2403, 2405, 2480) (non-C&G accounts)	40.47%
Professional Appointees (object codes 2408 & 2488) (contract & grant accounts)	34.72%
Bi-weekly Appointees (2500, 2502, 2504)	35.46%
Hourly Non-student Appointees (more than 1,000 hours)	18.96%
Hourly Non-student Appointees (less than 1,000 hours)	7.04%

Health Insurance for Student Academic Appointees and Fellowship Recipients is a flat fee of $2076 per year ($789 medical and dental for the first semester and $1,287 medical and dental for the second semester continuing through the summer). Health insurance should be placed in the employee benefit category of the budget and included in the base for calculating indirect cost. The health insurance charge must be pro-rated to the grant or contract account based on the allocation of salary.
